Dear Friends of Llumination: the Quest,

Sadly, Alexa Young passed away on December 2, 2005 after a couragious battle with cancer.

Alexa was a wonderful mother, "grammy"and "great grammy" to her 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. We all miss her greatly, but are comforted in knowing that she had completed her life's work, Llumination: the Quest, and she was truly ready to move on.

Alexa had one dying wish which she relayed to the family in her final days;

"I want Llumination to go out into the world and continue to change lives".

Her 3 daughters, Leslie, Lisa and Laurel, promised their mother they would fulfill her wish, and are committed and excited to facilitate the process.

If you would like more information or are interested in purchasing one of Alexa's beautiful games, please contact us .

We look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Alexa's loving family

Chronicle of the Co-Creation of Llumination: the Quest

It was in the hot and humid Des Moines, Iowa summer of 1978 that Alexa Young discovered (or rather, rediscovered) the mysterious tarot oracle. In the midst of a relaxing morning on a sunny porch, a friend pulled a worn tarot deck from its black velvet bag and offered to read for Alexa…who was immediately magnetized. At first glimpse this ancient tool of revelation appeared somewhat strange and yet, at the same time, strangely familiar. Ms. Young gazed mesmerized at one compelling image after another. As she recognized herself, and found her challenging life-circumstances reflected in several archetypal figures, Alexa was awed, confronted, and then utterly captivated. Intrigued by the Tarot’s potent beauty, amazed by its Truth; she rushed to buy her own deck and began to lay the cards out frequently, not only to gain clarity for herself, but to help others as well.

Alexa persisted in her tarot studies and practice while her travels, and her life, led her to Sedona, Arizona, and then on further west to Northern California’s Bay Area. As her readings gained power and accuracy, as she continued to give clearer and more astounding counsel to clients and friends, she came to realize that her tarot expertise played a significant part in her light-work service. Yet, as rewarding as she found performing readings, and as much as she enjoyed composing tarot verses and essays, those pursuits did not seem quite enough. She sensed a more important life-mission, something of consequence, something big!

Alexa began praying daily to be shown exactly what she was born to do. And then, after years of ardent appeals for divine guidance, on New Years Eve 1989, in Sausalito, California, through the voice of a friend, finally, she received her inspiration, “How about creating a board game based on the Tarot?” Ms. Young now feels that simple suggestion came as an answer to her prayers and served as a catalyst to open a portal for Llumination: the Quest to come flooding through.

From start to finish, the design of Llumination has been a co-creative endeavor. Alexa acknowledges the awesome power of Spirit as the guiding force who revealed to her exactly how the game board should be drawn, the precise colors that should be used; she believes it was Spirit instructing her as to just how the game should be played and just what mystical components should be incorporated. As Alexa emphatically declares, “This incredible game could never have been conceived by a mere mortal; it’s way too magical, far too astonishing, way too enormously powerful!”

The development of this transformational tool did not happen in days, or months, but painstakingly evolved over a span of nearly 12 years. Throughout that time Ms. Young received and integrated a wealth of ideas, ideas that came not only from Spirit, but were also channeled through family and friends. Yet Alexa believes that this amazing divinatory device originated in a far-distant realm, eons before she was inspired to bring it to light.

Alexa currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona, close to her beloved children and grandchildren. She feels that the vast city of Phoenix is the ideal launching pad for her creation. Like the legendary plumed bird, reborn and rising in flame, the transformational power of the game is infinite. It is the heart-felt hope of Ms. Young that those who embark upon a Llumination Quest will find answers to their questions, experience profound personal growth, and be inspired to make positive changes in their lives. Her deepest desire is that the Light of Llumination will become ever-more brilliant and that ultimately its radiance will illuminate the world.
